In March 2003 international long-term savings company Skandia launched their Set Sail program. Building on the success of existing involvement in sailing related sponsorship with events like Skandia Cowes Week and campaigns such as Skandia Wild Thing, Set Sail is a global program that will streamline Skandia’s global sponsorship activity by placing all its major sponsorship projects under the ‘Set Sail’ banner over the next few years.
The campaign objectives are to:
- Make sailing more accessible
- Grow the sport’s reach
- Enrich peoples’ lives
By providing support to people, activities and events where Skandia can:
- Make a positive contribution
- Work in partnership
- Demonstrate its values in action
Skandia is keen to build on the current style of sailing sponsorship that has been in place over the last 8 years. Sponsoring Cowes has been without doubt a phenomenal success for Skandia. Sponsoring sailing in this way is a perfect environment for people to better understand the type of company Skandia are. Through Set Sail Skandia aim to offer more people more opportunities to take part in the sport on a broader level.
